Joan graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2000. Joan joined the Family Law practice at Donnelly Murphy Lawyers PC in March 2022, bringing with her over twenty years of experience appearing at the Divisional Court, the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Justice. The skills she has acquired in mediation and alternative dispute resolution training are utilized daily for the benefit of her clients to facilitate early resolution of their complex legal issues.
Drawing upon a wealth of experience, Joan assists her clients in all aspects of separation, divorce and the division of family property such as homes and pensions. Joan also represents parents and other respondents in Child Protection Applications and will take Legal Aid Certificates for Child Protection matters in Goderich, Sarnia, Stratford and Walkerton.
Joan feels strongly about giving back to her community through volunteering her time. She is the Vice President of the Victoria Haliburton Law Association since 2022, and is a member of both the Huron County Law Association and the Bruce County Law Association and the Advocates Society. Joan volunteers her time on two Boards currently.
